ADHD clinic offers comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and behavioral therapy and medication management for children, adolescents and adult with Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
ADHD is one of the most common childhood disorders that can continue through adolescence and into adulthood. According to American Psychiatric Association 5% of children (under 18) have ADHD. However, other studies in the US have estimated higher rates. An estimated 6.4 million American children ages 4-17 have been diagnosed with ADHD. For Adults some estimates state that 5.2% of Americans have ADHD.
ADHD includes a combination of persistent problems, such as difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior. ADHD also can cause low self-esteem, low motivation, troubled relationships and poor performance in school or work.
Symptoms sometimes lessen with age. However, some people never completely outgrow their ADHD symptoms although they can learn strategies to be successful. While treatment won’t cure ADHD, it can help a great deal with symptoms. Treatment typically involves medications and behavioral interventions. Early diagnosis and treatment can make a big difference in outcome.
How is it diagnosed?
Comprehensive interview and ruling out other disorders that can cause similar symptoms is the key to diagnoses. Medical exam and evaluation helps rule out other possible causes of symptoms.
